A Recap of what has been happening so far in 2018

Ok so I haven’t yet written a post in the new year, but that doesn’t mean that things haven’t been happening. The big news is that in  three days our third grandchild will be born. The first son of our third son, Peter and his wife Missy will be delivered via c-section on Wednesday morning. Now that should make babysitting very interesting! I actually won’t have to worry about babysitting for a newborn and a three-year plus old for a while. Anti-Aging Activities Need to Be Initiated Now while this year does not find me as out of shape as...

A Knee Injury and Dr. Amen lead to Positive Changes!

Goodbye Coffee and Coca-Cola - Hello Teas So last week was basically a week without exercising. The reason is that sometime during the previous week I reinjured my knee. It all began about a month ago, when I fell near the end of a four-mile run. I scraped my knee and a finger or two. Both of the scrapes healed over the next few weeks, but there was still some discomfort in the knee, particularly, when I put pressure on it. Then on Thursday night November 9th, my knee really hurt,  when I climbed into bed.  I worked the following morning...

A Five-Mile Run with the Music of Jim Stubblefield

2017's First Five-Mile Run and I'm kept in stride  by the music of Jim Stubblefield So yesterday was a running morning and things looked pretty good. Except for that morning humidity. At eight o'clock the humidity was still above 90 percent so I decided to wait a little before heading out. I wanted to up my distance a little so I spent part of the time I spent waiting plotting out a 5 mile run. Even though tim he temperature was fairly low it was pretty sunny, so I decided I wanted to get as much shade in the run...

Ugh! Humidity Slows Me Down! The Bucking Mules Pick Me Up!

Yesterday's Run:  Humidity Slows Me Down  While The Bucking Mules Pick Me Up! Yesterday's run was both good and bad. The good was the great picking from The Bucking Mules while the bad was the high humidity! When the start of the run I knew the humidity was bad. It had rained the night rained Tuesday night and weather.com listed the humidity at 90 plus percent. Anyway I decided that I wouldn't worry about running a shaded route because it was cloudy. I picked the old Creek out and back 4-mile course. Over the first quarter-mile of the run I...

A So-So Run Made Better By Age-Graded Running Times!

Using An Age-Graded Running Calculator Helps Me Stay Positive...   So the only things that were rolling through my head this morning as I ran down Long Beach Boulevard on Long Beach Island were thoughts about the Robert Earl Keen song "The Road Goes on Forever". And that's what it seemed to do! The second part of that thought was  " I haven't seen a party yet!"  The run was a two-mile straight run from 7th street to 52nd street. At 52nd street, I made a right turn and went slightly uphill to Ocean Boulevard. There I turned and headed...

A Good Morning Run Over a New Course with Old Memories!

A Four Mile Run Some Shade, Some Sun, Some Memories - Good Music from Amplifier So this morning I decided to creat a new course for my run. My training plan since my early 40s has been running four miles on two weekdays.! And then a five to eight mile run on the one of the weekend days. This year I have not run any distance greater than four miles. As a result there are portions of those five to eight mile courses that I have not run this year. One of those places is along the Rancocas Creek bear its...
