The Blues Wednesday Rolls On……Dave Fields

So the other night I was looking through music at emusic.com and I came across an artist Dave Fields and his 2007 release Time’s a Wastin’. I listened to the first track “Let’s Get Shakin'” the other night and it was a really great jump blues track with some great guitar work so I put the whole album on the mp3 player today and gave it a listen. I will be moving on to listen to his newest album All Wound Up soon ’nuff said! Here’s what some other say about Dave’s guitar playing:

.a superb guitarist with an over-the-top incendiary style”                                                                    -Marc Weitzman ELMORE MAGAZINE

“TIMES A WASTIN is one of those CD’s I listen to over and over… expect great reviews of this CD…”
KANSAS CITY BLUES SOCIETY Jerry Thompson (Review of TIMES A WASTIN)

From his website here’s some brief biography notes:

New York City genre-busting blues guitarist Dave Fields can rightfully boast that he experienced the hip modern version of the blues education. He was born to Sammy “Forever” Fields, the lauded virtuoso pianist, composer, arranger and producer with remarkably eclectic tastes from classic American standards and jazz to rock ‘n’ roll such as the Royal Teens “Short Shorts” and the Capris’ “There’s A Moon Out Tonight.” He was thrilled when his son expressed a desire to go pro and would later show his vast knowledge and awareness of contemporary rock by always replying that the “best” guitarists in the world were Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix.

Anyway Dave’s playing is great his vocals are nice and the whole album rocks! I only listened to it once and I know several tracks caught my attention but I didn’t write them down so I’ll do my best to remember. I know that one of them was “Rabbi Blues” as Dave and his Rabbi talk about playing the blues! “Frenzy” was another along with “DF’s Blues”. Oh just go and listen and I think you’ll enjoy it! Now it’s time to go see if I can get my other computer to connect to the Internet…so that maybe later I can write about Sean Chambers!

Here’s Dave performing “Rabbi Blues”!
